Extendable 4 ft Reclaimed Wood Cottage with Hand-Hewn Beam Pedestal Table in Bala

Our greytone treatment will preserve the colour of unfinished. Many people like the colour of unfinished. A typical clearcoat will automatically darken natural wood [and reclaimed wood darkens a lot given the age of the wood]. The greytone treatment allows for the colour of unfinished, while still having the benefit of a durable, waterproof epoxy/polyurethane clearcoat finish.

80″ Reclaimed Wood Table with No Epoxy for a Customer in Mississauga

While epoxy finishing provides enormous practical benefits, not all our customers opt for it. The other half of what makes us unique is our ability to maintain nearly all the original distressing in the raw materials; while effectively combining with modern carpentry standards. We keep nearly all the original distressing – the question is how rough do you want to keep it? There is certainly something cool about “feeling” all the original distressing; the downside is the difficulty to clean. About 5% of our customer opt for this option. Check out these pics! This was a custom plank base table we made for a client in Mississauga, Ontario.

9 ft Reclaimed Wood Table with Epoxy Finish in Mississauga Home

All our raw material starts comes to us dark. The older wood gets, the darker it gets. Since the raw material we use is 150+ years old, it comes to us very dark. If we only lightly sand the wood before our unique clearcoat finish, the wood will be dark without using stain. Check out the sample of a minimally sanding hemlock threshing floor table. Our tables are designed to a centerpiece. We do a lot of tables for cottage in northern Ontario. They work great at pulling tones in from everywhere; particularly wood. Since we don’t stain there’s a broad range of tones in our table tops. The waterproof finish fills in the cavities in the old wood, allowing for maximum practicality. The NO epoxy option: 6 ft Custom Reclaimed Wood Table in Toronto

Epoxy adds an enormous amount of durability, ease of cleaning, and water-proofing. That being said, some of our customers really just want to feel the character of the wood and don’t care about the less practical aspects. We can help them out too! A nice thick polyurethane coat – even though it won’t fill – will provide superior use compared to the common lacquer. Check out this custom sawbuck table – no epoxy – we made for a customer in Toronto!
