8.5 ft Trestle Table in Niagara Cathedral Ceiling Dining Room

Many people worry that putting a wood table in space that already has a wood floor may create an “overkill” of wood. Besides doing non-wood or solid colour wood chairs; another simple solution is an area rug. An area rug will break up all the wood grain and create a softer, warmer feel to the room.

Check out a sample of this below. We made this hemlock table for a customer in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Some people opt for a lighter epoxy coating; so the character of the wood if felt more. It’s always a balance of feeling/seeing the original distressing, and ease of cleaning/plates + glasses laying flat. This round table we create for a home in Coldwater was done using theÂ lighterÂ coating option.

All our tables can be modified in many different ways. If there’s a way you would like to change a design to fit your vision better, don’t be afraid to ask! For example, a customer recently modified our double hand-hewn posts design significantly. We added and rail customized the feet.

A Black Base/Chairs for Contrast of Wood Grains – Sault Ste. Marie Harvest Table

With a lot of wood grain in a space, white or black legs/skirting and white or black chairs can be a great way to create contrast and emphasize the table top. A Sault Ste. Marie customer did this with a harvest table and it worked very well. See below for pictures!

Reclaimed Wood Table in Oakville

The key difference our finish makes is it allows us to keep nearly all the original distressing in the old barn planks. Whatever would have gone on in a barn over the course of 100-150 years is visible in our planks; as well as all the things that come with aging – dark patina, cracks, blackening of distressing marks and so on.Â

This table shows this quite well. We recently made this for a customer in Oakville, Ontario. Details of table:

Acton Island Reclaimed Wood Cottage Table & Chairs

The general guideline for seating is 2 feet of length/person based on roughly 19″ chair width; so to comfortably sit 4 people doesn’t take a very big table.

The table was done for a cottage on Acton Island, Ontario. The black Buckhorn style chairs create a nice contrast between the wood top and wood floor.

Reclaimed Tops with Epoxy Finish for Existing Islands

A common application of our tops is on existing island bases. The wood contrasts nicely with cabinetry and adds in character to the space. The epoxy finish makes the reclaimed softwood we use durable/waterproof and hot/cold resistant, which is great for kitchen islands. Check out this one we recently did in Toronto:
