Reclaimed Wood Buffet in Kitchener

We did this buffet for a customer in Kitchener,ON. The larger than our “usual” handlesÂ distinguishes it from other samples on our website. Typically Lee Valley has a “suite” of hardware; so there is a lot of customization that can be done even within a certain style.

The Cast Brass Mission Hardware from Lee Valley is by far the most popular hardware selection our customers make for buffets/hutches/cabinets. The tones compliment the dark tones of the wood, and ensure the hardware does not stick out too much. Here’s a link to this hardware on their website:

A metal base provides a more modern look and a nice contrast of old/new with our reclaimed wood table tops. We recently did a stainless steel one for a company in Waterloo, ON (see pictures below). We do quite a few boardroom tables given the durability/waterproof/more modern look to our table tops.

Harvest Table and Bench – The Tapered with a Notch Leg Option

Our tapered with a notch leg option keep the harvest table design simple, but with an element of formality. Our benches can be customized to match many different table style. For this table set we made for an Ottawa, Ontario home we did proportionately sized tapered with a notch legs. The benches we made shorter so that can slide completely under the table when not in use.

A more child-friendly option is making table corners rounded. We did this on the coffee table below for a customer in Scarborough, Ontario. This coffee table also has a more rustic look as we did the lighter coating of epoxy. See below!

Custom Reclaimed Wood Desks: Angled Design

Our custom desks are increasingly popular. Desks can be done many different ways; depending on your space and storage needs. The drawer boxes are made from solid vertical 2″ threshing floor. We maintain a lot of the original distressing on these “threshing floor walls” so the authenticity of the wood really stands out even from a distance. We made the desk below for a local restaurant’s sales office.

Smaller tables are ideal in kitchens as they typically are the day-to-day table and don’t typically require a lot of seating at a specific time. Lighter Epoxy Coating Thickness on a Sawbuck Table in Mississauga

We can control the thickness of the epoxy coating we put on our tops. Sometimes our customers forgo a smoother surface for feeling more of the original barn wood distressing. Our approach in this case is to fill all the major cavities but not too much more beyond that. We recently did this for a client in Mississauga, ON. See below for some pictures!

Kitchen Harvest Table with Wormy Maple Chairs in Cambridge, ON

Black chairs are a greatÂ way to break up tones so that the reclaimed wood top is emphasized as a centerpiece.Â Some find it a shame to paint over all the wood; so an additional option is staining the chair seats the dominant tone of the table top. This creates a nice two-tone effect; emphasizing the character of the distressed wood top.

Check out a sample of this below. A customer in Cambridge, ON applied this approach to their kitchen table.
