The majority of our reclaimed wood cabinetry is made from “grainery board”… 1” + salvaged wood that comes from inside an old Ontario barn. The primary reason we don’t use external barn boards is that they are “too far gone” in that they have a lot of beautiful distressing (ideal for siding or when backed with a plywood reinforcement); but structurally they do not have sufficient integrity to support a solid, heavy-duty, resilient cabinet.Â
Grainery boards have different distressing than say, a barn floor, but still have several unique elements. They tend to be a bit lighter [being inside, they had less exposure to sunlight/use… consequently; less patina] but also resemble very well the old-growth wood as it was in it’s original state; with a few nail holes, rodent chewing marks, and wear from seed (ect..) along the way.

“We are absolutely thrilled with our dinning table from HD Threshings. It is exactly what was promised in regards to colour and finish however the finished product definitely exceeded our expectations – stunning! HD Threshing were easy to work with and very accommodating. We required the table for an event we were hosting at our house and they went out of their way to ensure the table made it in time – including driving it to Toronto at 7am to ensure it was there before the event.
