Everything we do is custom built, so we can modify our builds to your exact requirements. For this reclaimed wood desk project, the customer had an oddly shaped space but really needed to make it functional within given space limitations. We custom build desks from old Ontario barnwood. Combined with our epoxy + polyurethane finish, we can maintain the original pioneer distressing while still being practical, good to write & spill on, ect. For this Ottawa desk project, the customer opted for our bleached greytone treatment option, which maintains the light colour of unfinished and cuts out the brown tones. See pics below! Reclaimed Hemlock is an unique raw material. It splits very spirally and has an enormous amount of character. Not commonly used in furniture [given the amount of distressing/roughness even when planed] it’s our main raw material given our inventive clearcoat finish. The straight polyurethane option eliminates the epoxy [clearcoat filling] process from finishing. While the top will be less practical given the amount of unfilled distressing, some of our customers appreciate it as you can feel the original distressing.
