Most of the time we fill in the pioneer distressing with clearcoat [no stain] to maintain the character/history while making practical/easy to clean/durable ect. However, some customers really want to feel the original distressing, in which case offer a simple polyurethane finish [no epoxy filling], which is what this desk customer opted for. While less practical, there is something cool about the original texture of the distressing being maintained. See pics!

We custom build desks from old Ontario barnwood. Combined with our epoxy + polyurethane finish, we can maintain the original pioneer distressing while still being practical, good to write & spill on, ect.
