Most of our product is naturally [clearcoat] finished [no stain]. In some cases our customers want to be able to predict the colour very specifically, with no redder tones. This is why we started offering this new option: black stain. This cuts out the reds and makes the whole table consistently very dark. Our high gloss option is our clearest finish. While it’s the most clear, the tradeoff is the high shine; which will reflect a lot. The perfectly clear finish will perfectly demonstrate the original pioneer barnwood distressing; and may be the best option in your case. While most of customers opt for the epoxy + polyurethane 2 stage finish [or a light epoxy thickness, medium thickness option], for the most extreme rustic look, we can skip the filling stage completely. While this will forgo a lot of practicality in terms of cleaning and durability, it may be the best option; just depends on how you are going to use to the table. We maintain nearly all the original distressing in the old Ontario barnwood we use as the raw material. This is enhanced with our heavy duty [clearcoat] finish which also makes our tables practical.
