A common concern with a traditional [4 leg] harvest table is that taller people will hit their knees on the skirting. While we use 3″ skirting which will generally clear any knees, an option we offer is a tapered skirt. The legs are bolted into the skirt for stability so we can’t eliminate it completely, but this allows for maximum clearance. We did this for this Cambridge harvest table project: Continue reading →

As we custom build from scratch we can do many type of modifications to table bases. For this project, for example, the customer opted for an 18″ inset from the ends on their reclaimed wood harvest table base. See pics below!

When our reclaimed wood table top is similar in colour to your floor, a good way to break up the colour is with a painted base and/or chairs option. For this Kirkfield reclaimed wood harvest table set project, the customer did both.

Some of our customers really want to feel the authentic pioneer distressing in our reclaimed wood table tops. Since epoxy provides a more smooth feel; they’ll typically opt to go with no epoxy filling. While there is a trade-off in terms of practicality [cleaning, durability], this may be worth the cost. The primary raw material we use is old growth Hemlock and Pine barnwood from pioneer barns found throughout Ontario. We don’t stain [just clearcoat] given our unique clearcoat finish.
