Rustic Barnwood Wood Table in Mississippi Mills, Ontario

We keep as much of the original distressing from the distressed barnwood as we can. This includes the edges. I commonly get asked if we do “live edge” tables; and the answer would be: sortof. We don’ t do cut edge; meaning a perfectly sqaure edge; but we also don’t do the true live edge – meaning the outside edges are the same as the original tree edge. We do keep all the original distressing from the old barn floor boards we use [“threshing floor”] which has a lot of the wane/putting/wear and unevenness. Therefore, we are basically between live edge and the most common cut edge.

Check out this reclaimed table we delivered toÂ a customer inÂ Mississippi Mills, Ontario. The darker tones contrast nicely with the floor; and the leather chairs break up the wood grain in the table top and floor. The tasteful setup of the room really showcases the beauty of the reclaimed wood top. Check out pics below!

10 ft Reclaimed Wood Hemlock Sawbuck Table in Cambridge, Ontario

We usually recommend those with wood floors to use solid colour chairs to break up the floor from the tablet top; making the table top the centerpiece. The ideal thing about a stone or tile floor is that is not necessary; even more so with a light coloured floor that most kitchens have. The table below (scroll down to see pics) had a beautiful light coloured tile floor; which greatly showcased our reclaimed wood table.

5 ft Reclaimed Wood Harvest Kitchen Table in Stoney Creek, Ontario

The legs for our harvest tables are made from the 4″x 4″ windbrace beams that come from the structure of a pioneer barn. The windbrace beams are place at an angle on the corners of the large beam joints to strengthen and re-enforce the barns against strong winds. We start with a 4″x 4″ windbrace beam, and then taper, add a notch, or turn the beams, or create a cabriole leg. In the case of this table, we dd the tapered with a notch legs. The taper and notch just add an extra level of detail; in situations where an extra level of formality is appropriate (as opposed to a modern, simple straight leg].

A lot of remote areas up have roads simple called “Firelane #”. We love delivering to these areas as we get to experience the beauty of Ontario’s remote regions. The trees, rocks, wilderness is truly breath-taking.

Check out this sawbuck table we made for a remote cottage in Simcoe Lake. The cottage was done in a fairly modern style many years ago, and the owners were restoring it to its original state. Our reclaimed wood tables stand out as a centerpiece in contemporary spaces and warm up the space.

One of the main benefits of a round table is that everyone is facing eachother. There’s no need to lean over to talk to someone.

Check out this round table we made for a customer in Vineland, Ontario. The hand-hewn beam post pedestal base hold a 2″ reclaimed hemlock top. Hemlock has a more dominant grain than pine, and doesn’t split straight. This provides a very unique looking grain.

Smaller-sized 5 ft Reclaimed Dining Room Table in Guelph, Ontario

The beauty of customization is you can have the table exactly to what your space requires. Traditional dining rooms had quite large tables. Given the decreasing use of formal dining areas toward more open-concept; rooms and spaces tend to get movedÂ around. Â If you don’t entertain large crowds in particular, you can use a smaller room for formal dining. Even a 5 ft [pictured below] can seat 6 people comfortably (general guideline being 2 ft table length/person.

In a space with a lot of lighter stones, a warm dark colored reclaimed wood tables table can really stand out as a centerpiece. Since there isn’t a lot of wood, the wood that is there really stands out as a centerpiece. With all the distressing we are able to maintain, the beauty of the wood as it looked when it came out of an old barn is truly emphasized. Our epoxy finish allows ease of cleaning and practicality for every day use.

5 ft Reclaimed Wood Harvest Table in Etobicoke, Ontario Home

Some of our customers opt for one leaf instead of two. One leaf can provide additional seating for 2 people, if the table size is an odd number. The general guideline for seating is 2 ft/table length/person based on roughly 19″ chair width. Therefore, a 5 ft will seat 6. Extended 18″, however, you have 6.5 ft, making the table capable of seating up to 8.

This harvest table we custom built for a customer in Etobicoke. In order for the table to stand out more, they opted for a rug underneath (so that the table top wouldn’t “compete” with the table top). This can also be done with solid colour or fabric/leather seating.
