What is responsible for the uniqueÂ final look of our tables? – Â Emphasizing and making “practical” what is already existing in the wood, rather than over-milling. How can you beat….

1) wood that came from the original forests from Canada (tighter grain than any other)

2) wood that has been extremely slowly distressed by processes completely unrelated toÂ carpentry; processes related to the everyday lives of real people.. pioneers from the first generation of the nation of Canada

3) avoiding the specific colorÂ approach,Â Â forgetting stains and going with natural wood

4) being able to actually use, abuse, spill on, and generally not care about the way you treat your table – knowing that its beauty is protected by a thick layer of UV resistant, hold/cold surface, durable clear coat finishes!

Islands can be done so many ways. If you already have a large kitchen, additional drawers and doors in your island mayÂ not be necessary. An elevated top for food prep and presentation will always be handy, however, given counter tops are not very deep. Have you ever considered taking a table style and simply doing it a greater height? Since everything we do is custom built from scratch,Â any of our table styles can be done at counter or bar height (or any height). This is exactly what our client in Danforth area of Toronto, Ontario did. A simple harvest table style – but at 36″ counter height.

12 ft Large Reclaimed Wood Hemlock Trestle Cottage Table in Port Carling, Ontario

Naturally finished (clear coat, no stain) reclaimed wood has a broad range of tones. This makes our tables really stand out as a centerpiece.

We custom built this large trestle table for a beautiful cottage in Port Carling, ON. The table stands out as a heavy duty focal point in the dining room. The many wood tones throughout the space are in the table top; pulling it all together. To add an element of formality, this customer also did the violin shaped base. See pictures below!

7 ft Reclaimed Wood 3″ Plank Post Table in Grimsby, Ontario Home

All our table tops are made from old barn floor boards (“threshing floor”) found in the pioneer barns that dot the landscape around Ontario. Long before the wood was used in a table top, it was cut down by a pioneer and served its purpose as a floor for over 100 years. This fact can be seen in all our table tops. Whatever went on in a barn over the course of 100 years is visibly – the nail holes, saw marks, stains, ect. Check out this table we created for a customer in Grimsby, Ontario.

5 ft Reclaimed Wood Trestle Table in Hamilton, Ontario Home

A common trend these days is to get rid of formal dining rooms; instead opting for a single table that can act as a dining and kitchen table.

This was the case with the table below. This Hamilton client also did a bench on one side. Benches are great for maximizing seating, especially with kids as you can fit many more people on a bench. Unlike, benches also don’t cut off the view of the nice reclaimed wood table top. As a result many of our customers will a bench on at least one side of the table. We stagger the posts so it will slide underneath when not in use as well – ideal in high traffic areas.

Cabinetry For Boardrooms: Custom Reclaimed Wood Hutch in Toronto, Ontario

Many boardroom spaces host events, or meetings that can go on for long periods of time.

Consequently, food, beverages and supplies are required. This is why a recent trend has been the installation ofÂ cabinetry, hutches and/or buffet consoles in boardrooms. A hutch can hide supplies, act as a bar top, and helps to avoid a cluttered workÂ space.

We custom built this reclaimed wood hutch for a boardroom in Toronto, Ontario. The space had specific size opening that needed to be accommodated. We inset the hutch into the opening, maximizing the use and functionality of the space. See pictures below!

Aged Barnwood Patina: Hemlock Table in Burlington, Ontario

7 ft Reclaimed Hemlock Barnwood TableÂ in Burlington, Ontario

The older wood gets, the darker it gets. Since the raw material we use is over a century old, it comes to us with a lot of authentic, dark patina. Since there is so much colour and darkness to work with, we don’t stain our tables. If we do only a light sand, much of the patina is maintained and the table is dark. The more we sand, the lighter the table gets. This reclaimed wood table we custom made for a customer in Burlington, Ontario, had our ‘medium’ amount of sanding. Medium sanding creates the broadest range of tones in the tops and has the most amount of contrast [light/dark tones].

This customer also ordered 8 of our parsons chairs in the Apache Cream colour. Parsons chairs are great for making the table top the centerpiece [no competing wood grains].

10 ft Reclaimed Wood Trestle Table with Drawers in Oakville, Ontario

Drawers are an option with all our table base designs. Given the lack of skirting (like a harvest table), many assume that drawers are not possible with our pedestal style tables. We simply add a skirt, and then any quantity of drawers can be installed. Most often drawers are used for table coverings, daily reading such as a Bible, and dining related items. In the sample below, an OakvilleÂ customer did a drawer for each spot with a trestle table.

Custom Reclaimed Wood Reception Desk with High Gloss Finish in Burlington, Ontario

Given our epoxy/polyurethane finish, we do a lot of office and boardroom projects.

In reception areas, typically the receptionist desk has privacy behind some type of wall. Our threshing floor walls are ideal in this application. The vertical 2″ threshing floor boards have tons of original distressing and stand out as a centerpiece. Check out this custom reception desk we made for a long and narrow reception area at a Burlington, Ontario law firm.

Toronto Reclaimed Wood Boardroom Table

12 ft Toronto Reclaimed Wood Trestle Style Boardroom Table

Many of our Toronto boardroom table customers have the same challenge – getting a large table into their boardroom on the -nth floor. Modern service elevators are disappointingly small; with anything over 7 ft becoming a real challenge. Old buildings have freight elevators and can handle a lot more, but the instances of them still in use are rare. To deal with this challenge the typical solution is delivering the tops in 2+ pieces and then doing final dry-doweling on site. There will a small seam wherever the tops are connected, but it is an option.

Another option is building independent tables that can be slid together. The benefit to this is the table can be taken apart and re-configured many ways depending on the intended use. It also helps for any instance where the company may move locations. No carpentry or assembly (undoweling ect) is required. This is what did for the Toronto boardroom table below. Two 6′ trestle style tables were made to sit side by side.
