Heavy-Duty Design: Reclaimed Wood Frame Base Table in Newmarket, Ontario

Our frame base design is inspired by the old timber frames our raw material comes from. Joining wood using wood joints is becoming a lost art. This design combines the harvest and trestle design; providing many of the benefits of both. Check out this frame table [pics below] we made for a customer in Newmarket, Ontario. The rich tones of the old wood really stand out as a centrepiece.

14 foot x 56″ Custom Reclaimed Pine Trestle Table in Utopia, Ontario

We custom build to any size; even very large lengths and widths! If you have an exceptionally large space and require a lot of seating, we can accommodate. The beauty of reclaimed is the character each seated person sees will be different for every spot. We don’t artificially distress our tops; meaning there is nothing but completely authentic distressing. Whatever may have occurred in a pioneer barn over the course of 100+ years of use is visible in our table tops. This blog post focuses on a large trestle table we custom built for a customer in Utopia, Ontario. I’ve included a lot of pictures from the unfinished stage to demonstrate just how much of the barnwood distressing we keep!

Splitting as a Feature! 7 ft Oakville Reclaimed Wood Harvest Table

A lot of the principles used in new wood construction is simply not applicable when building with reclaimed. With reclaimed, we aim to keep as much of the splitting, distressing, and historical character as possible. With new wood, these are seen as defects. We love splitting and roughness and it makes for the most impressive final look in our tables.

Check out this harvest table we made for a customer in Oakille, Ontario. It as a very large split right through it! This, of course, is filled with our inventive finish so that it is still practical for every day use.

7 ft Custom Made Reclaimed Wood Trestle Table in Kitchener, Ontario

We painstakingly work to maintain nearly all the original barn boards. This is a time-consuming challenge, as the boards have been in a barn for 100+ years.. with cupping, warping, twisting, ect ect. Edgar Beringer, our lead in the building shop, leads the effort to get to a flat table top while maintaining almost all the original distressing on the table top. There are many different strategies we use throughout the whole process to get to the final result.

This trestle table set we created for a client in Kitchener, Ontario is a great example of just how much of the original character we are able to keep. Obviously, this means a very rough table at the unfinished stage. Our epoxy finish fills in the cavities and allows for practical every day use, without sanding out the history of the wood.

Custom White Wash Reclaimed Wood Buffet in Toronto, Ontario Home

A new option some of our customers are opting for is our lighter version of the greytone treatment. We try, as much as possible, to stay as close as possible to the natural wood. This white wash/ bleached option is not a stain. We cut out any brown/reddish tones with a specialized treatment, and then clear-coat with our typical epoxy resin + polyurethane finish.

Custom Reclaimed Wood Vanity in Toronto, Ontario

In a bathroom, you want everything to be waterproof. Wood and bathrooms, in a general sense, has never been a great combo. Lots of moisture + wood typically doesn’t mix. We overcome this challenge with our durable and water resistant epoxy and polyurethane finishes.

We do quite a few vanities. We rarely have the opportunity to take pics of the the final product put together, given the fact we don’t sell sinks – hence the unfortunate lack of pics on our website.

We can custom cut in any sink you choose. Vessel sinks are typically just a single, relatively small, hole; in those case they are typically done on site. Otherwise, we custom cut the sink in, based on customer specifications. Cutting in pre-finishing guarantees the seams will be completely sealed.
